*My Story

I am

* A powerful, passionate Japanese American Buddhist woman
* The product of beloved communities
* Making changes from the inside out

I earn my daily bread

by directing On the Verge (OTV)—
* I partner with older leaders to develop the OTV program
* I coach and coordinate OTV groups in Napa and the East Bay area
* I partner with my fellow Vergers in growing OTV

How my leadership has changed as a result of OTV

Since being in OTV I am challenged to examine my stretches and how to improve on skills that I need to be a more effective leader. And at the same time I am pushed to recognize, share and use my strengths. OTV gave me tools and strategies to examine and realize my strengths.

Where I’ve come from and where I expect to be in the next 3-5 years

My work roots come from my family connection to a rural Japanese American community and my mother’s job as an educator.  After working with teen aged youth in both youth development and education—I decided that I wanted to be an integral part of raising leaders who worked with youth, families and communities to make social change; this led me to working with OTV. I would by lying if I said that I knew for certain where I expect to be in the next 3-5 years. What I can say is that I expect to be working with communities in order to raise youth and adults to be powerful, inspiring and effective leaders. And that I hope to continue to grow my own leadership within intergenerational communities striving for social change.
