*My Story

I am

A Mexican-American, Florida transplant, son of a Super Mom, brother to three caring, wild, and funny siblings, advocate for migrant farmworking families.  I am an experienced, diligent, and responsible employee.  I am a compassionate, trustworthy, and dedicated friend.  I am an honest, committed, and loving partner.

I earn my daily bread

As the Family Services Specialist for Child Start.  I provide training and technical assistance to 30 Family Advocates and Home Base Teachers throughout Napa and Solano Counties.  I write grants and oversee the Head Start Policy Council which is half of Child Start’s governance structure.

How my leadership has changed as a result of OTV

OTV helped me define who I am and what I'm about as a leader.  I'm about setting the standard and wanting the best for my family, my friends, my employer, and my community.  I am about integrity, taking the lead, and inspiring greatness with hopes that we can all achieve extraordinary things.   I like to push myself to the limits and encourage others to do the same.  I am about pacifism, adventure, taking risks, and giving of myself unselfishly.  Above all, I am about quality relationships that are non-judgmental, commitment based, forward moving, and real.

OTV has supported me in my leadership and has changed my outlook on leading and what it takes to be a good leader.  Through this experience, I have met many dedicated, passionate, and brilliant young leaders from Napa that I might not have met otherwise.  I feel honored to have shared this journey of discovery and possibilities with them; the knowledge they impart has been immeasurable and invaluable to me.  I have developed trusting, meaningful, real, long-lasting personal and professional relationships as a result of having participated in OTV.  I am more aware of how I interact with others; I take ownership of my presence; and I am willing to risk other people getting to know the “real me.”  This experience has been a true highlight to my career and life and has been the most beneficial to me and my leadership.
