In the Spring of 2007, On The Move launched after school programs at Salvador Elementary and McPherson Elementary as part of ArtLinks.
Now in it's second year, ArtLinks After School serves:
160 students - McPherson Elementary

Artists:
Chorus artist, Roberta Humphreys was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and moved to Napa in 1997. She studied music and theory through the Royal Academy of Music, Toronto and the University of Lethbridge. She taught piano and theory for 23 years and was a performer in the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and several choral gropus. Mrs. Humphreys has conducted several musical theater productions in Yountville and Vallejo, and also taught music with ArtLinks at McPherson last year.
Movement Artist, Linda Miller, teaches Yoga and dance. She is a veteran of teaching the arts in the schools for over 20 years and comes to us with enthusiasm and passion for good physical fitness.
Jennifer Bailey is a Visual Arts Teacher. Jennifer is also a third grade teacher at McPherson Elementary. She has been formally trained by renowned artists of Sonoma County, and at Chico State University.
Master Artist, Raymond Saunders, is an international figure in 20th & 21st century art. He is an Art Mentor influencing generations of art students to practice their passion. He drops by from time to time from Oakland to share his Art and his spontaneity. He teaches at the California College of Art. He has co-created a new fundraising poster with the children of the After School program that highlights Salvador School, On the Move and ArtLinks. His generosity will fund the printing costs of this poster project.
Reuben Godinez is a professional artist, designer and performer who creates his art using an astonishing assortment of media and technique. Born as the 12th child in Ario de Rayon Michoacan, Mexico, Reuben brings a tremendous passion to his projects which exuberantly express his deep rooted cultural influences of familia , folklore, music, and religion. Godinez is not limited to a palette of paint. His skill in conceptualizing artistic compositions and using ordinary materials to express extraordinary ideas is surprising and thought-provoking. Mr. Godinez currently lives and works on his art and as an art instructor in Napa Valley California.
Graphic artist and Illustrator, Nicholas Cann, is a native Californian, fifth generation. He was educated at San Jose State, Beaux Arts, (Paris) and Art Center (Los Angeles). His career began as a set illustrator for M.G.M. studios in Culver City. For 29 years he freelanced doing murals for department stores, hotels and airports as well as costume illustration for films. 1992 brought him back to Northern California and ultimately to Napa. He discovered the kids at McPherson last year and has found Nirvana.
Glass artist, Carrie Strope was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. She works in Stained Glass, Fused Glass, Mosaic, and Hot Glass at a Napa glass studio, M.Mitcavish Glass Art, where she has been a studio assistant and taught beginning glass classes for the last three years. Recently, Carrie has begun to teach glass art to K-5 in the ArtLinks program at Salvador and McPherson schools.
Theatre Artist/Teacher, Miguel Zavala has performed as a dancer, a singer, and an actor in musicals and plays for over 20 years, and he has taught theatre classes both at the university and elementary level in New York City, Atlanta, and Austin, Texas. He holds a Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University (1999) and a Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University (1994). Miguel is bilingual and helped launch the Children's Bilingual Theatre in Marietta, Georgia by directing their first bilingual musical play, El Canto del Roble/Song of the Oak. He is delighted to be teaching with On the Move at Salvador Elementary in Napa.
Sifu Somerville, ("Sifu" is Chinese term for teacher) has been studying Chinese Martial Arts for eight years. He has recently been teaching Kung Fu at the Synergy Wellness Center and at Salvador and McPherson Elementary Schools. Students receive basic instruction in Chinese Martial Arts. The skills and concepts focused on are:
- improving balance, strength, endurance, and mental focus; and
- the 12 lines of Tam Tuei ("Springy Legs")
