What Are The Components of On The Verge?

LEVEL 1:
When people join On The Verge, they enter “Level 1” as members of a new OTV group. Each group is comprised of 15 young people who commit to 12 months of intensive personal, interpersonal and professional development. In one year, Level 1 Vergers receive one-on-one and small group coaching; attend a total of four retreats; assess their personal strengths and challenges; participate in facilitated group reflection; develop individual learning plans; carry out collaborative projects; and participate in planning and producing a deeply meaningful graduation. The 12 months are broken into four overlapping focus areas:

TIME PERIOD COMPONENTS
Months 1-3
  • Developing the Personal and Interpersonal
  • Forming a Team

Months 4-6
  • Developing the Interpersonal and Professional
  • Defining the Team’s Common Work
Months 7-9
  • Developing the Professional
  • My Work in the World
Months 10-12
  • Integrating Personal, Interpersonal, Professional in Real Time
  • Individual & Team Performance

LEVEL 2:
At the conclusion of Level 1, Vergers graduate in a public event at which they share insights and accomplishments with friends and family members. Once Vergers graduate from Level 1, they have the option to join Level 2. Level 2 Vergers re-commit to the OTV principles of leadership in action and serve as the mobilizers and visionaries of On The Verge.

Vergers who join Level 2 commit to be active agents of change and empowerment within their own organizations. In addition, all Level 2 Vergers provide leadership within an existing Level 1 Verger group. Each Level 2 Verger may choose to facilitate a discussion group, serve as retreat staff, convene a peer-to-peer leadership development group or serve as an individual coach.
